Ace is a...

...good little sleepy boy at night.

However, his mom has been a slacker in the blogging department. Things have been busy and we typically spend our free time playing and getting in a good walk each night. I must be wearing the Ace Man out because he has a new habit is to put himself to bed at night. When Ace gets tired, he walks into his crate and starts to snooze away.

Really Mom...

...Really!?

That's what the Ace Man was thinking when I dressed him up as a bee for Halloween.

The costume was too cute to resist!

You Ain't Nothin...

...but the Ace Man.

Ace's mom dressed him up as Elvis for Halloween. He wasn't amused, but was strangely tolerant.

Award...

...Winner! Ace is a winner of Princess the Pit Bull Award!

He would like to thank his friend Lucky, for passing it along to him. Lucky is a Portuguese Water Dog who is both handsome and inquisitive. Ace received his Climbing to the Top Award because he shares a love of socks and thieving ways, two things that Lucky is very interested in as well.

Now it's time for Ace to pass the Climbing to the Top, Princess the Pit Bull Award on to some other pups. First, Ace would like to pass the award on to his friend Jade, whom he shares a love of bully sticks. Jade can even chew a bully stick when it's sticking out of the cup holder; that's some serious talent! Next, Ace would also like to pass the award on to his friend Flash, whom acquired a brother and BFF last year. Not to mention, Flash is tolerating her new seatbelt really well and Ace lurves her floppy basset ears.

The Little Guy...

...continues his thieving ways.

We had a friend stop by tonight and Ace was relatively well behaved. While we were sitting in the kitchen chatting, I noticed that Ace was occupied with something in the living room. Seeing that his bully stick was sitting next to him, I wondered what on earth he was so interested in. Shortly thereafter I confiscated a bottle of hand lotion from the Ace Man.

Suspecting that Ace thieved it from our visiting friend, Brooke, I promptly went to return it...teeth marks and all. As I held up the lotion and Brooke said enthusiastically, "Hey! I have that same lotion!" thinking that I was offering her some. I responded sheepishly with, "This is your lotion."

Yep, our little Man is a smelly good lotion thief. It must have been his favorite scent. ;o)

A garden...

... a beautiful garden.

I just realized that I posted photos of Roxy's Garden when it was first planted, but never posted photos of how gorgeous it has become. Enjoy!

Pink and Brown...

...bows.

When I saw this collar in a catalog, I had a friend special order it for Roxy. The pink and brown bows were a perfect color combination for my little princess and she wore it for a lengthy amount of time.

I started participating in a photography group a few months ago and before my schedule got busy and I bailed, we had an assignment to photograph a color. I thought that pink would be a fabulous color to photograph so after shooting my favorite pink shoes, I decided to grab Roxy's collar.

The collar has been put away in a sachet since her death. As I pulled her collar from the sachet, it was curled as if it was still hanging from her neck. I ran my fingers across the ribbon, noticing the little bits of Roxy fur still stuck to it. I could hear the jingle of her tag as I placed the collar in various spots of the backyard where she used to frequent. With memories flashing through my mind I couldn't help but smile, despite the tears that were welling up in my eyes.

Rest well, sweet girl.

Sock...

...stealer.

The Ace Man has an obsession with socks. If I don't get the laundry basket emptied out quickly, the little guy will drag the socks (singles or pairs, he doesn't discriminate) out to the living room. It's there that he proceeds to lie in the pile while chewing on a bully stick. I have yet to photograph his antics, so you'll have to settle for a different photo of him.

Roxy's the...

...Birthday Girl!

I cannot believe that we're already upon Roxy's second birthday without her. I have been thinking of her bunches, and she's decided to let me know that she's thinking of us too.

While looking for pictures, I came across the notes of her absorption assay results. A short time later when Billy was filling out a birthday card, he signed Roxy's name instead of Ace's. Finally, I was scanning the tv for something to watch and came across P.S. I Love You. Coincidences, I think not.

I haven't decided how Ace and I (Billy will be at work) will spend Roxy's birthday. Last year, Ace went to work with me and we went to visit her memorial brick. I would love to go visit her brick again this year, but would have to drive 45 min. both ways. So, visiting her brick is debatable for tomorrow. Whatever we decide to do tomorrow, I want to enjoy the day with Ace and help him enjoy the life that he has been blessed with while remembering the big sister that he never was able to physically meet.

Happy Birthday Sweet Girl!

Happy...

...Gotcha Day Ace!

That's right, one year ago I was heading to Toledo to pick up the Ace Man from his foster mom. I had no idea what the year would hold, or the adventure we were in for. I could hardly wait to get him home and show Billy.

Aside from being a precious little ball of fur, he has grown into a beautiful, sweet boy who has helped my heart heal more than I could have asked for. I can't wait to see what the upcoming years will bring!

I thought I just saw...

...a dog.

Sadie and Ace spent the day wrestling around the house. My dad came to pick up Sadie and knowing that we had plans and would need to drop off Ace, I sent him with my dad too. So we were sans dogs at the house.

My brother's girlfriend has been staying with us since June and we were in her room chatting about what she was going to wear tonight. In the middle of her sentence she stopped and said, "I thought I just saw a dog. I must be going crazy." I couldn't help but smile and responded, "You never know who's hanging around."

Ace and...

...friends.

During our nightly walks, Ace and I stop to visit some of the residents at the assisted living facility that is close to our home. Ace lurves the attention and they love seeing him. Last night we had to walk early and no one was outside. Ace was so mopey and sad that there wasn't anyone outside. He just walked by with his head down, ears back, tail hanging and kept looking over to where they sit.

Tonight we weren't able to fit in a whole walk because there was thunder in the distance, so we went to visit his friends quickly instead. The whole way home Ace was as happy as a clam. This must be just one of the reasons I call him my sweet little boy!
